"The anaerobic metabolic pathway provides energy for short and intense attacks of maximal power during combat, while the aerobic system contributes to the kickboxers’ ability to repeat attacks at the same strength and speed level during the total duration of the combat, to optimize the recovery process during the brief periods of rest or reduced effort during the combat, and also for effective recovery between consecutive combats."

What is Muay Thai Kickboxing?
The kickboxing techniques were originally used by the military during the 13th century. Muay Thai is a combat martial art with 8 striking points.
At first glance, Muay Thai and regular kickboxing might seem similar enough, however they are certainly not the same.
8 Point Striking System
Most notably, Muay Thai uses the 8-point striking system. Fighters can use their hands, feet, knees, and elbows to attack their opponent. Kickboxing on the other hand involves only the use of hands and feet, prohibiting the dangerous weapons, knees and elbows.
Primary Muay Thai Techniques
Kick, which is done with the shin of the attacking leg.
Punch, which is delivered with a closed fist. The most common variations include the jab, uppercut, hook, and overhead punch.
Knee, which is typically used in close range, especially while clinching the opponent.
Elbow, which can be delivered in many ways, including sideways, from above, and to the chin (from below).
Teep, which can be used for defense and offense. Its primary purposes are to deliver powerful strikes, prevent an attack from your opponent, and control distance.
Clinch, which is a grappling technique designed to disable the opponent and is typically used in combination with close-range strikes like knees and elbows.

It also teaches you how to defend yourself against multiple opponents through solid footwork, keeping a distance, avoiding and deflecting strikes, and attacking at the right moment.
2. Fantastic Tool For Conditioning
Muay Thai kickboxing is an incredibly demanding discipline, and each training session pushes you hard. Sparring with training partners, practicing strikes, and learning how to defend yourself are challenging activities that build up your aerobic capacity. This leads to better work capacity, improved ability to recover between workouts and quicker skill acquisition due to less fatigue and "brain fog".
3. Great For Weight Loss
At its core, weight loss comes down to one simple thing:
Being in a calorie deficit - consuming fewer calories than you burn each day.
A fantastic way to establish a deficit is to start burning more calories each day, and physical activity is your best option.
The good news is, Muay Thai kickboxing is fantastic because it helps you burn a lot of calories. It’s not uncommon to burn upward of 500 calories in a single session. Over time, this can help you lose weight more easily, without changing your routines.
